What a Beautiful Mess

We've officially been declared a "Disaster Area." I'll let the pictures do the talking~this was my trip in to work this morning...

I bought Mason these boots tonight! (I'll admit they were in the girl's section, but they look boyish to me and there were NO boots in the boy's section.) Mason LOVES them of course.

Cutie Patootie

Just wanted to share some random cuteness.

Updates...

Great news! Little Miss Harper is doing a lot better! She's the newborn baby of Kelly, whom I blogged about here.
Thanks for your prayers~to see the cutest pics and the full update, go here.

Wayne was back at work today and I will be returning tomorrow morning. I've been captive inside the house for 3 days now, so I'm looking forward to being a part of the outside world. Mason asked me a few times today if we could go to Mimi & Grandpa's house~I think even he was ready to leave the house.
I feel almost guilty that we never lost electricity throughout the ice storm! I hope all my family & friend's are making it ok!

I guess that's all. I have some cute pics of Mason to share, but I'm gonna go watch LOST instead! (forgive me!)

Ice Ice Baby

We were iced in today. (like everyone in NWA) I was so glad to hear my workplace was closed early this morning. Thankfully, Wayne was able to work from home. So I played with Mason most of the day, took too many pictures of the ice outside, watched some tv and made this.
I'm quite upset that American Idol did not record due to the satellite not coming in. :( I'll have to try to catch it online (is it online?)
Anyway, it started out icy this morning & just got worse & worse. It sleeted & rained & snowed all day long and so many people were without electricity. We are so lucky that we had power all day (just a few flickers here & there) The main issue we're all facing is all of the trees that are down. The inch+ of ice on the branches has downed so many trees around us and all over town. Every single neighbor around us has MAJOR tree damage. We have minor damage at this point, but are holding our breath on a few of our large trees...

Cadey's Birthday Party

Who doesn't love a good birthday party? Mason sure does! He was so excited to go to our friend, Tara's house for her daughter Cadey's birthday party on Sunday. He did pretty good considering he had not had a nap.(ugg) He ate a whole piece of cake & a scoop of ice cream all by himself (big mess) and played with all the kids & lots of Cadey's toys. Cadey is such a cutie!!! She got a vacuum as a gift & Mason quite enjoyed himself while borrowing it.

Super Silly Saturday

Mason was just too silly this weekend. He was climbing all over & hanging upside-down, rode his bike all over the kitchen (we would never allow that-cough cough) and made a silly playdoh face with lots of eyeballs...

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

It does not totally erk me that the city gives you a HUGE plastic trash can to sit on the curb and a TEENY TINY LITTLE recycle bin! Our recycle bin is not overflowing every single week and I would not put even more things out be recycled if I had more room each week.

My son, Mason is not still obsessed with vacuum cleaners. He does not vacuum with his toy vacuum, as well as the real vacuums at our house and my parents' any chance he gets.

We have not been letting Mason ride his trike in the kitchen because we feel bad that it's too cold to let him go outside. I mean, it clearly is not an outside toy.

Mason did not go poopy in his big boy underwear yesterday then ask for a cookie, as if he'd done something good. He clearly did not misunderstand me when I told him that he could have a cookie if he poopied on the potty.

Mason did not draw with pen on a check that Wayne left out on the desk that needs to be deposited.

I am not really peeved at Snapfish.com right now. I do not have 364 (literally!) photos stuck in my cart that thier website will not let me order, dating back to October. Their IT dept. has not been completely worthless at helping solve the problem and they did not act like I'm an idiot who doesn't know how to operate a computer.

I am not considering switching online photo developers after using Snapfish for 3 years without a glitch.

Mason does not plan to have a Spongebob birthday party this summer and other parents do not cringe when I tell them this. I do not think Spongebob is not age-appropriate for a 2 1/2 year old.

I do not need to get off this computer and do laundry and play with Mason.

"Not Me" Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I was not a total witch this week and I am not blaming it on PMS.

I am not currently experiencing my third headache in the last three days and I would never be irritated at the fact that Mason refuses to take a nap.

The remains of the whole chicken I cooked last week is not still sitting in my fridge waiting for trash day. That would be disgusting.

I have not periodically started biting my nails after 2 1/2 years of non-nibbling because that would just be stupid.

I did not think I could fit Mason's stroller down the aisles of a flea market today so I would never have circled the perimeter, bought 2 small items and then left. I do not think the owners thought I was a shoplifter.

My living room looks like a daycare...

Well, it did. But now all 500 of the toys are put away nicely in Mason's room. It really made me think that we should donate some of his old toys. Mason spent most of his Christmas money on Saturday buying new toys and mommy made sure to get some outfits as well. There's just enough left for a trip to "the bear store" (aka Build-A-Bear) to get some jamammas (pajammas) for Patches and maybe some accressories.

I love this picture (although blurry) it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland!

Snow Day

Yesterday we woke up to snow (which you know if you live in NWA) It was mostly on the roads and was a little slick. It was about 10 degrees. AKA COLD! (not compared to what the north is getting right now, but very cold here!) It was still snowing on my way to drop Mason off at my parent's house and he was pretty excited. He wanted to play in it but I had to get to work and it was soooo cold. There wasn't really anything to play in either. I hope we get a good fluffy snow before winter is over because I really want Mason to be able to experience it again. Last year was his first snow & he loved it!

No, Not Me...

I did not wait until 10:05 pm to create a "Not Me! Monday" post. That would be too late & I would've just said forget it until next week.
I did not almost gag tonight as I prepared a whole chicken. If I got a free whole chicken at work, I would not have acted like I make them all the time. I did not make a terrible face and wish I were a vegetarian as I stuck my hand INSIDE the carcass to pull out the neck and giblets. I did not almost gag again as I saw some of the neck still on the bird and I would NEVER have tried to rip that piece off, forgetting that it was connected by bone.
We did not actually really enjoy the roasted chicken for dinner with baked potatoes.
I would not complain about having to go to work tomorrow when I only work three days a week at a job I like.
This is not my third post today.
I do not have a huge headache and do not wish I were in bed.

Mason: Version 2.5

Two days ago, on Jan 10th, Mason turned 2 and a half! He has been having another growth spurt over the last week or so, eating us out of house & home. Like Wayne said, he's got to keep up with those 6 year olds! ;)

This blog not only serves to inform family & friends about our lives, but also as a journal for me to look back on. And since I'm so far behind on my scrapbooking (and have a bad memory), I will definitely need to read thru my old posts (like this one will become) to help document his life. Another good excuse to blog, huh?

Anyway, Mason now weighs approx. 40 lbs & is 38 inches tall. (pre growth-spurt!!) He talks so amazingly and is so funny! (I know-shameless Mommy brag session) He has known is abc's for a while now but we are working on lower case letters. He can count to 15 in English & 7in Spanish. He loves music and musical instruments. His favorite show is Spongebob Squarepants and he LOVES stuffed animals, known to him as "babies." He is also very into cars/vehicles of any sort.
He hates to lay down for a nap, but when he gets to sleep, a nap lasts around 2 hours. He is starting to potty train (again) and I know we'll succeed this time! He is our little sweetheart!

These pics are all from the 10th. He got some new toys with some of his Christmas money. He played with this new barn for 5 hours straight!! He also picked out this rubber band ball that we roll & bounce in the kitchen.

In pajamas, ready for bed (after we play, that is)

New Year's Day

I realized that I never posted about New Year's Day!

I was soooo tired that morning but eager to see Mason, who had spent the night at my parent's for NY Eve.
Every year my mom makes a big black-eyed peas & cornbread lunch so we'll all have good luck in the new year. We also had ham, chicken, au gratin potatoes and carrot cake & peanut butter pie for dessert. It was yummy!

Worth waking up for~Mom's beautifully decorated dining table:
