It all began when I started having lower abdominal pain about 3 days ago...
Day One: Why am I cramping? It's NOT that time right now. How uncomfortable.
Day Two: Hmmm, maybe I have an ovarian cyst. I got an ultrasound (perk of working at a women's clinic!) and yes, I indeed have a small cyst but nothing to get worked up about.
Night Two: My lower back on the left side only is Really hurting. My lower front side is Really hurting. I am now in severe pain that radiates around my left flank. I'm poppin' ibuprofen like candy, pain lets up, I'm good for the night.
Day Three (Today): Pain while getting ready for work and has become severe by the time I drop Mason off at my parents'. Drive to work in SEVERE pain and am in tears by the time I arrive and state to anyone that will listen that I need to see a Doctor!
Pee in a cup. Have Exam. Discuss with Dr. what might be going on...
Diagnosis: Kidney Stone!
Sent to Regional for an IVP (contrast injected thru IV to show up on x-rays)
Wayne picks me up, we fill out paperwork, get bloodwork done.
Wait for THREE HOURS!
Then I have x-rays for about an hour & a half.
They will call my Dr. the results and he will call me.
Eat lunch at 3:00pm.
Forget to swing into the pharmacy to pick up pain meds. (good one)
Pick up Mason.
Get call from nurse saying that the x-rays showed nothing!
Ugg.
The nurse assures me that my symptoms are "classic" for kidney stones and that maybe I had already passed it/them. OR...they may have been too tiny to see on the x-ray and I will still have to pass them sometime soon.
Will get pain meds in the AM!!!
Wish me luck!

Ready for Church!

I took a leap of faith (pun intended!) last Sunday and took Mason to church with me!
I used to take him with me all the time when he was a baby & I could hold him and he'd take a little nap during the sermon (those were the days!)
Well, I tried to take him about a year ago and he had separation anxiety at that age, so I'd drop him off at the nursery and I'd get a page about 10 minutes later that he was screaming & crying. So after trying it a few Sundays in a row, I gave up & started leaving him at home with Wayne.
Well, I started thinking the other day that he is bigger & understands so much now that I could & should try to take him again.
He did awesome! I was so releived when I got through the first part of church with no page.
Then the sermon was over and still, no page.
Then we were taking communion, and still NO PAGE! I was thanking the Lord for everything!
When I went to pick him up, he was sitting at a little short table just his size with 2 little girls, eating goldfish crackers with his own dixie cup of water. It was so cute and it seemed like he was in school or something! The teacher said he did great and looked forward to seeing him again. I will be taking him again next Sunday and I might even try to send him up front in "big church" to the Children's Sharing Time before sending him on to the 2 year old class.
What a big boy we have! It's bittersweet...

Catch-Up Post
You may have noticed I haven't been feeling very bloggy lately, so now I'm going to play catch-up! Here are a few things I wanted to share...
Mason had a check-up at the Pediatrician last week. He's healthy and on track with most everything. He is still in the 95th percentile for his age group in height and weight (no surprise to us!) He weighs 37 lbs and is 40 inches tall!!! He is so big & heavy to carry, but I still do it because he's my baby!
Dr. A told us we needed to stop giving him milk at bedtime (oops-I knew that!) so that he wouldn't get cavities and to start a routine of teeth brushing before bed. (I just let him brush his teeth kind of hit & miss before) So we have started that and Mason is really into it. I bought him a new toothbrush and some toddler training toothpaste (safe to swallow) and he thinks he's big stuff! Here he is tonight before bed...
On another note:
The other day, Wayne's Mom, Clova stopped by to see us and brought Mason this huge red dog! His name is Floppy and Mason just loves him and his Grandma Clova!
Lastly,
My parents got new (BeEEEaUtiFuL!) office furniture, so you know what that means~ New desk for us! (we got their hand-me-down desk) Yippee! Our office has looked pretty pre-marriage your-stuff-and-my-stuff-crammed-in-a-room-together for a while now, so the new desk is a real upgrade. I'm really enjoying all the workspace. (see below) There's talk that we might also inherit a nice bookcase that will shelve our tv...:)
More to come, but that's for another post!

Randomness & a Faux Hawk
Just thought I'd share Mason's faux hawk from a week ago since I can't bear to post without pics!
It's seem like it's been a slow blogging week for everyone. I guess it's the lull after Valentine's day. There's not been a whole lot of exciting things happening, just random stuff like:
This weekend I took the glass globes off the light fixtures & washed them in the dishwasher~man, they look good now!
I bought the book "Wicked" today. Yippee-now if I can stick with reading it.
I'm trying to make time for scrapbooking. No, really this time!
I'm sooooo looking forward to the Billy/Elton concert! I can't wait!!!
I saw an old friend today, Shara. We've known each other since Kindergarten & lived together in college. We're doing lunch next week!
I'm looking forward to Mason's Dr appt on Friday. I'll let you know his official height & weight...
I haven't done a "Not Me Monday" in 2 weeks! oops.
I guess that's enough rambling for now!

Our Valentine's Day
We had a low-key but fun Valentine's day. The day started with gift exchanges. Mason was thrilled with all of his Spongebob things; a talking card, a board book with little flaps that open (his fave kind), & chocolate & conversation hearts.
Notice the new haircut as well!
Wayne got me these beautiful tulips! (my favorite flower!) He always goes out of his way to try to find me tulips, which is usually hard in February. So sweet!
Don't they look gorgeous in the sunlight?
I got Wayne this really neat Razorback "Football Vault" book. It's like a scrapbook with reproductions of original Razorback paraphernalia tucked inside. My dad's had it for a few months & I thought Wayne would also like it. And he does!
Then our day got really exciting!
I had told my BFF, Tori that I'd watch little baby James for her while she was moving, so she & her daughter, Mya, dropped him off for the afternoon. He was a perfect ANGEL BABY! We played with him, fed him, diapered him, and he even fell asleep on me. Of course I held him almost the entire time he was with us but his Mommy assured me the spoiling was okay!
Mason had fun with him as well...
James didn't care to sit on Mason's lap, however!
After all the excitement, I was pooped out! I took a nap & was sleepy the rest of the night! Hope you all had a fun Valentine's Day!

Why Moms Don't Have Time
A friend posted this on Facebook and I found it entertaining...(it's not geared toward any of my friends, of course!) Click on it to make it bigger.
Nothing too exciting has been happening around here lately. Today Mom & I took Mason to get a haircut & it turned out cute. I think that's the big newsflash for now. Exciting, huh?

The Pianoman & The Rocketman
I'm sooo stoked! I bought tickets this morning for us to see Billy Joel & Elton John in concert in Tulsa on St. Patrick's Day!!! I just couldn't pass up two of my favorite legends so close to home! My parents saw them years ago and loved the show.

From the website:
They will open the concert with a series of duets, playing twin pianos and trading vocals. Each artist then will perform a set with his own band. A grand finale brings the two superstars and their supporting musicians back together for a closing encore. This includes some of both their greatest hits along with an unpredictable selection of rock ‘n’ roll classics.
An old picture from the tour:

Surprise 80th Birthday Bash
My BFF's grandma is turning 80 in a few days and her family threw her a surprise birthday party this weekend, complete with family that flew in from California and Kansas! Since her family & my family are so intermingled, it was so much fun seeing everyone & celebrating! Tori's mom, Peggy, really did a wonderful job pulling this party off! We ate Olive Garden and had this super yummy cake from Rick's Bakery.
Tori's grandma, Dorcas, was sooo shocked when she walked into the room & we all shouted "SURPRISE!!!" She was litterally speechless!
She received some nice gifts & cards. This was a photo card with an old picture of herself on it~it was amazing! We all had to pass it around.
Peggy (Tori's mom & Dorcas' daughter-are you following me? haha) made this quilt for her. She had sent pieces to each family member and had each one decorate a square, then sewed them all together. It was a beautiful keepsake!
Here is Mason BEFORE he started running for 2 hours straight! He was so tired & red-faced but had a lot of fun. (I was tired & red-faced from chasing him & getting on to him!)
Here's Tori and little baby James, both looking great!
James was wearing a sweater vest-I'm very partial to tiny sweater vests! What a doll!!!
Out of town guests: Debbie & Logan, Nathan, Glenna & Paul and Teresa & Carrie.
Grandma's house
Earlier this week, we went over to my grandma's house so Wayne could trim down some large broken tree limbs that were hanging from her trees from the ice storm. (I thought it was so nice of him to offer!) Before we left, Mason loved watching this huge "cherry picker" tree service truck cut down this tree & put it into the chipper just a few houses down from ours. He thought it was pretty cool! I really don't know why they took the whole tree though.
There's always treasures to be found at Grandma's house. (Mason calls her Gigi)
Here he is playing with some of our old toys. Of course he loves the barn. He discovered my old Strawberry Shortcake house this time...
And I had fun with the RingaMajigs (in their original container from the late 70's/early 80's.
Wayne was so tired after about 2 hours of tree-trimming. And Mason was tired of playing. He fell alseep when we got home.

Our Birthday Recap
My Grandma came over after we got home & brought us gifts, then later my sister came by to drop off a restaurant gift card for Wayne and something I've been wanting for a long time:
A roller-ball massager from Bath & Body Works! It's heaven!
That evening, we dropped Mason at my parent's & went to Copeland's. We always end up there for our b-day dinners. It was so good! I literally had the BEST steak I've EVER eaten in my life! We both had wonderful meals & enjoyed our waitress, which is always a plus.
Although we were full, we thought we should go ahead & get dessert since it was our birthdays. We split this HUGE Bananas Foster. YUM!
I took this picture of Wayne with the flash & it turned out too bright.
So when he took a pic of me, I turned the flash off. It turned out too dark. I WILL have a new camera soon! (hopefully~how long have I been saying that?)
Sweet Baby James
We finally visited my BFF, Tori, the other day (briefly) and I got to hold baby James. Too bad I didn't get a picture of myself holding him!!! He is such a cutie! He's holding his head up so well! They have been without electricity from the ice storm since day one and had to hike about a mile & a half out to the main road from their house!! What troopers~what a long way in the ice-and with a newborn to boot! Mason was so excited!
James smiled at Mason!

Happy Birthday To US!!!

(photo: Jessica Driver, flickr)
Today is my 32nd birthday & Wayne's 33rd birthday! We plan to have lunch with Mason then drop him off at my parent's tonight so we can have dinner-just the 2 of us.
So, pretty much we have a day of eating planned.
I'll be sure to let you know about all the festivities (or lack thereof!)
Sincerely, The Birthday Girl

Mason in the Ice (just a few more!)
Footblob Cookies
I let Mason help at first, but he was so tired (& so was I) that I went ahead & finished them.
These are the 3 that turned out OK. Mind you, I was slapping the frosting on pretty quick so we could eat them (Wayne's brother, Billy was over) & I could get out of the hot kitchen & get Mason to bed after a day with no nap (which is becoming the norm lately).
And here they are. The Footblobs. As you can see, I finally gave up and just put our initials on the last few.
