Memorial Day Weekend

Our long Memorial Day weekend was filled with shopping, eating & more shopping. Wayne went on a 2 night camping/floating trip to the Buffalo River with his brother, so it was just me & Mason all weekend. We shopped for about 2 days straight with my Mom...

We finally tried out the Green Bean (a restaurant) and LOVED the food! But not the service. They were short handed & overwhelmed, so I'm sure it would be better if we went back. The food was definitely worth another trip. So fresh and unique. Mom & I had the chicken salad. It had everything you can imagine on it. (see below) Mason had a rosemary ham & cheese sandwich. We all had to try a strawberry almond corn muffin as well~ or "muffcake" as Mason would say. (think "muffin" & "cupcake")
YUMtastic!

We shopped at the Promenade and took my niece, Chloe' along. I had forgotten just how much fun it was to shop with a teenager. (said sarcastically)

Mason had fun trying on sunglasses

I took a mirror shot of us:

The next morning, I took Mason to a class at Gymboree. He LOVES it.

Then we visited the downtown Bentonville Farmer's Market. It was nice. A trip to B LaRue, As For Me & My Home, and a walk around the square.
Then we headed to Interiors Galleria. I really love this place & hadn't been in a few months. One of my faves~Lavender Blu:

Another cute little booth that I like:
We did do something besides shop~

I've been trying to keep Mason busy with crafts lately, so I picked up some pipe cleaners & pom pom balls & googly eyes at the Target dollar spot the other day. I wasn't sure what we'd make, but we ended up with...

2 caterpillars & a spider, too!

Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend!

Touch A Truck 2009

Our Junior League held the 3rd Annual Touch A Truck fundraiser a few weekends ago. I helped out briefly in the morning, then returned home to get Mason & Wayne. Mason had been looking forward to it and he had such a great time. He's so into cars, trucks & other vehicles right now that he was so excited to be able to climb on them & see them up close.

It had been raining literally for days and the event had already been postponed once, so we were worried that the weather would not cooperate again. Well, thankfully the rain held off, although it was windy & cool enough to have to wear a jacket. It was a fun event & raised money for our League to be able to fund our community projects within the local shelters. Thanks to everyone who attended!

A Little Bit of This & A Little Bit of That

I have some random misc. pics to share so I thought I'd lump them all together into one big crazy post!

Mason got to make a new animal at Build A Bear a few weekends ago while we were out shopping with my Mom & Grandma. He chose a bear because he's never had a bear of his very own~the bear that he's always played with was Wayne's teddy bear when he was a child. He chose a soft, chocolate brown bear and we named him Hershey.
Every time we've been in Build A Bear, Mason only wants to play with the strollers that they sell to push around the stuffed animals. He's TOTALLY distracted & can barely focus on making an animal b/c he's GOT to push the stroller. So we finally caved & bought him one so Hershey could ride in it. (They have a blue one for boys) Mason was in heaven. He didn't want to dress his bear, so we chose a little AR Razorback t-shirt to put it in & some sunglasses & called it good.

I meant to post this a few weeks ago~Our "Pet" bird update:
The baby birds in the nest right next to our sunroom window hatched & flew out of the nest about 2 weeks later! They grew SO fast! Mama Bird & Baby Daddy taught the babies how to fly, hunt for food in the grass, & all the other things birds need to know how to do. It was such a pleasure to watch them grow from eggs to teenagers...

Mason drew his very first Faces!!! Up until now all of his drawings were just (beautiful) scribbles. we were playing the other day & he just decided he was going to make a face. He drew eyes, a nose, cheeks, a mouth...and then a moustache! hilariously awesome. I am SOOoooo proud! (can you tell?)

If you know us or have read any of this blog in the past, you probably know Mason's fascination/obsession with vacuums. Well, you may not know that he is also in love with robots.
Enter: Robot Vacuum. Not many things in this world make this child happier than our Roomba vacuum. My parents have one too, so he gets to play with one constantly. He knows how to turn it on & off, do a spot clean, & return it to the charger. He follows it around with HIS little "robot vacuum" (that unbeknownst to him is actually an old portable CD player. Ha!) What a cute, clean kid!

Mason also still likes to line random things up in an orderly manner like, say, these pillows...

That's all for now but I'm still playing catch-up. I'll post pictures from Touch A Truck & then celebrate my 400th post (holy geez!)

Mother's Day 2009

I'm back from my (unintentional) blog break! I have several posts to catch up on & I'm looking forward to my 400th post very soon!!!!!

First thing in the morning, Wayne and Mason gave me a beautiful sterling silver heart-shaped locket necklace and a card that made me cry! It was one of those recordable ones and when I opened it, it was Mason's sweet little voice saying, "Happy Mother's Day" then Wayne, "We love you." Then Mason repeated, "We love you." I started bawling before the whole thing had finished playing! So sweet!

I visited my own Mom on Sat. since she & the rest of my immediate family went to Fort Smith to visit my Grandma on Sunday. They ended up getting hit by a teen driver in an intersection while going to eat lunch. The girl then hit another car, so 3 cars were involved. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. Just sore with bruises. What a lovely Mother's day they had! :(

Meanwhile, Wayne, Mason & I ate lunch at Colton's steakhouse then headed to Wayne's parent's to see his Mom, Clova, for Mother's Day. Although it was a little chilly, we spent the afternoon sitting outside on their covered porch, visiting & relaxing by the firepit. Mason had fun playing in the sand and "driving" Grandpa Bill's dump truck (& honking the horn!) I just had to take pictures of my MIL's beautiful Iris', Peonies, & Climatis! I had a good (3rd ever) Mother's day!

Chloe's Birthday Party with Friends

Chloe' had a second party for her Sweet 16 on her actual birthday with her friends at Fastlane. My sister worked her hiney off to pull all this together and I just LOVE how it all turned out!

Is this not the most amazing cake?! It says "Sweet Sixteen" on the side to the left(from Rick's Bakery)

Here's the cake with a plate & one of the invitations I made to match

I'm sure she'll remember her 16th birthday fondly!
That makes me wonder...what did I do for my 16th??? Hmmmm....
