Gettin' Crafty Again (and other news)

Before I get into the story, I have a couple other things to share...

First, I just want to point out that the silly tickers to the right are NOT WORKING! (I HAVE SINCE REMOVED THEM) I've never had this prob before & I've tried to redo them but they just won't "tick." So Mason is now (just slightly) older than what it says & we leave for Vegas on WED. MORNING!!! Yippee! We haven't packed a thing, but started washing lots of clothes this evening. Rest assured I have at least 4 ongoing lists of things to buy, pack and do before Wed morning! We're so excited!

Which brings me to the Second mentionable: Wayne has Shingles!
Not to roof the house, but as in a rash on his face & chest!!! I know-gross, but it has really put a damper on things. He started getting it Thursday and by Friday night we realized we had to get to a Dr, so we got up early on Sat morning & went to the walk-in clinic (left Mason with my parents-don't worry!) Long story short, he has Shingles.

For those of you who don't know, it's a virus that is dormant in your body after you have chicken pox. When you get stressed, your nervous system can kick it into gear-in the form of a rash that is itchy and can be very painful and cause a lot of bad side effects. It can last up to a month or longer. He's on 3 different meds and trying to get lots of rest before our trip. Please pray that he feels well for the trip and gets better soon! Thanks!

OKAY~ here's the Crafty Story...
Mason and I worked on another craft the other day. He had found some pine cones in our backyard, so I thought I'd show him how to made Pine Cone Bird Feeders-you know the ones.

I laid out some newspaper, tied on yarn to hang them, and then slathered them with peanut butter (a little messy!) I let Mason roll them in the birdseed to coat them. We then took them outside and hung them up. About an hour went by and I noticed a squirrel was having a wonderful time eating off of them & Mason could not have been more proud. It only took about 2 days before they were completely stripped and we took them down! He also made one for his Mimi & Grandpa.

I realize this is way too many pictures to document such a small occasion, but he just looked so cute and excited in each of these, I had to share them!

New Big Boy Bed

My parents and Grandma went in together and got Mason a new twin bed for his birthday(to upgrade from his toddler bed/converted crib.) It was on order so it wasn't at his party but we were able to get it this Friday.

It forced me to decide on the new theme for his room since he needed new bedding and he's had frogs ever since before he was born. (It was a super cute nursery set but I was really tired of looking at it!) I had to decide between cars (not the movie, just cars in general) or robots. Robots won out since Mason & I both liked it better. I got it at Target and the only downfall is that there aren't many accessories to match it and I'm an accessories matchy-matchy kinda girl. My mom offered to make a new valance and I will paint some artwork for the walls to match the bedding & we'll go from there. Of course I will share pics when the room is completed but for now it's very bare since we stripped the frogs.

The bed is set up and he's sleeping in it for the second time tonight! He really likes it and slept well last night and so far tonight. What a big 3 year old! :)

Mason's 3rd Birthday Party!

I think I've recovered from last weekend enough to finally post Mason's birthday party pictures! It seems we've been so busy lately!

Mason had a great party with our family. He was so excited to see everyone after counting down to his birthday for months! I managed to keep my emotions under control with my baby boy turning 3 (except for being a little stressed!) and the party went great. Wayne grilled hamburgers & hot dogs and we had baked beans, potato salad & chips. I tried to keep it simple.
BTW, Thank you so much to my Mom, Lisa & my MIL, Clova for all the help at the party! And thank you Tori for taking some pictures!

Excitement!
Getting the food ready Cake time!
Blowing out the candle
Yummy "muffcakes!" (he also has started to call them "mupcakes)

Time for the presents
A happy boy
And we saved the big surprise for last...A power wheels Jeep! He was in shock when he first spotted it, then ran right up & hopped in! He's now a pro at driving it.
HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY, MASON!

Mason's Birthday at Chuck E. Cheese's

Since Friday was Mason's actual birthday and his party was on Saturday, Wayne got off work at lunchtime and we took him to Chuck E. Cheese's. We ate (greasy) pizza and played for about 2 hours! We were all exhausted by the time we got home but Mason had a great time and we enjoyed the time with him on his 3rd birthday.

We were excited to see Chuck himself, and he gave Mason a big birthday hug...

Birthday party pics soon to come...

4th of July

We had a pretty laid back 4th. I didn't mind too much that it rained most of the day because it was a good excuse to sit around, play with Mason and watch Michael Jackson's "Moonwalker" (straight outta the 80's-on VHS of course) not to mention I was able to finish a new painting. Please go check it out at Fiddlesticks.

Wayne grilled hamburgers & hot dogs for dinner (I like mine really well done! Yum!) Then we packed some drinks, sprayed ourselves head-to-toe with bug spray & headed to Memorial Park early enough to get a good spot for fireworks.

Ready to go...

We had talked it up with Mason all day and he was excited to see them (since I guess he didn't remember them from last year.) Besides having some really annoying people park RIGHT beside us in an almost empty lot and set up their chairs almost touching ours....well, they pretty much sucked. The whole show lasted about 15 minutes and Mason wasn't interested. He wanted to run around and scream, although he'd had a TWO and A HALF HOUR nap early in the day! Oh well, I bet he likes them more next year. And we still had fun.
