High winds and rain from Hurricane Ike reached us last night around midnight. We were still up, so we saw and heard how fierce the 40-50 mph winds were! I went to bed around 1 and at 1:15 I heard a big POP, followed by many bangs. One of our tall trees in the backyard lost a whole section! It was about a third of the tree--it snapped and caught the edge of the storage buiding as it fell. There is some light damage to the roof of it. A few large limbs of our Bradford Pear came down as well (I think the big tree caught them on the way down) We couldn't tell how bad it was until this morning. Wayne spent the day (with the help of our wonderful neighbor & his chainsaw & flatbed) cutting up the tree & hauling it off. Fun.
I can't believe how strong Ike still is this far up on land! I mean, we are in Arkansas, for goodness sake! I feel bad complaining about a tree when there are so many that have lost everything. God bless them...
Mason's basketball goal is in there! It's a little wonky, but will be ok.

YIKES!!!! glad the building wasn't too damaged.
The wind was terrible! It didn't do any damage to any of our trees or home (thank goodness!), but it did keep me up most of the night.
What was up with that? That is one strong storm to make it all the way up here. There were a lot of downed trees near my house. Of course, we can't complain. My friends in Houston still didn't have power on Friday!
