Work Sux but God is Great
Ok--so it's Saturday--the best day of the week. But I can't stop thinking about how I have to go into work tomorrow morning. I am soooo fed up with this crap at work that I'm about ready to tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine. I run the entire dept by myself and volume has picked up so much that I can barely keep up. And there's no hope of it letting up--we will continue to get busier and busier. I'm constantly being paged when I'm not at work and called in on the weekends although I trained a person specifically to cover weekends! And believe me when I say that I do NOT get paid enough to deal with this shit. I let my bosses and the COO know that I needed help about 6 weeks ago and they provided me with "weekend girl" 2-4 hours a week. Now that is so helpful. She's actually only helped a total of 4 times in the last 6 weeks because, of course, her car was in the shop for 2 weeks and she had no way of getting to work. So, I'm left wondering--do I stick it out and wait for something to happen or start looking for a job??? OK--enough venting.
On a lighter note-- Last Sunday at church was amazing! This young guy had come to church several times before and told us about how he lives in his car and has been homeless for about a year. He said he had fallen away from God and had been heavy into drugs. He said he was now clean and had stopped hanging out with all his old druggie friends. I had prayed for him. He seemed lost. Then last Sunday, at the morning service (I don't go in the morning, but my sister & her family does) he was suppossed to get Baptized and he didn't show. As my sister tells it, it was a little awkward--the water was filled and ready to go and the pastor had to say a few words to the congregation to smooth it over. Well, the guy showed up last Sunday evening and came forward and confessed his faith in front of us all. The evening service is a pretty small group--there were about 15-20 of us there that night. My Uncle was visiting from San Fran so he and my Mom were also there. The guy said that he couldn't bring himself to walk into the church that morning. He had too much self-doubt. So he went back to his car and began crying--sobbing even. Asking God what he should do. He said he cried for almost 2 hours. Then his hands and arms went numb. He got out of the car and ran into the church, into the sanctuary, to the alter area. He stood crying and trembling and he heard in his head "Submit, Submit." It was then he knew he was ready to get baptized. He didn't expect any of us to believe this story, but he told it anyway. So last Sunday evening as he stood in front of us--still crying and trembling, he decided that he'd like to go ahead and get baptized right then. We made our way to the dark sanctuary--turned on the lights and filled the water. There were 10 of us and we sang "Amazing Grace" for him and he was baptized. I was crying like a baby. Grandma Update
My Grandma had surgery today and they removed the 2 cancerous tumors. They did some exploring and came up with nothing else--thank goodness. Hopefully all of our prayers came true. She will still have to have chemo :( but it could be worse. I'm pooped--going to bed. ZZZZZ

5 FIVE 5 FIVE 5
Stole this from April's blog (don't know her but she's got a cool blog!) But I added a few of my own catagories. Here's my answers:
5 songs of right now: Kanye West "Gold Digger", Gorillaz "Dare", Rob Thomas "This is how a Heart Breaks", Mercy Me "Homesick", Cyndi Lauper "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" (threw that in to see if you're paying attention)
5 snacks: buttery popcorn, caramel apples with nuts (it's fall!), cereal, pretzels, gummy worms
5 things I'd do with a million $'s: share it with family, new cars & a big house, save some, donate some, new wardrobe
5 places I'd run away to: Paris, Italy, Hawaii, New York, Australia
5 things I'd never wear: Blue eyeshadow, legwarmers, real fur, lots of big jewelry, my birthday suit (in public!)
5 greatest joys: my family, my faith, my employment, my husband, scrapbooking :)
5 current reads: Application Study Bible, Wake Up Laughing (women's devotional), Creating Keepsakes mag, Memory Makers mag, O mag (gotta have my Oprah!)
5 things I can't stand: inconsiderate people, chicken fried steak, tailgaters (the driving kind...heehee), stress, too little time
That's all for now! I hope to get off work early tomorrow and go to a few craft fairs with Mom. Traffic will be just wonderful. It's been a terrible week and I'm so glad it's almost over!!
Viva la Friday! (whatever that means)

The "C" Word and more
Well, tomorrow we will find out if my grandma is having surgery or what. She got cancer in 1992, then again in 1997. Now I guess it's back. What a terrible feeling to have to deal with. Knowing that you've put your All into fighting off something that's trying to kill you and after throwing up, being weak, staying at home instead of going out so you won't catch something, loosing all of your hair---and finally succeeding--beating it--for it to come back to haunt you. Not once, but twice. She needs our prayers. We find out tomorrow what exactly is up--on her 76th birthday!
Which reminds me...I've been thinking about coordinating a monthly or bimonthly "Family Night." I just had a thought that my calendar is always full of events with friends and Junior League obligations and that it would be great to have a planned night where everyone drops everything and comes together and plays a board game or watches a movie or something. Since we all live really close together now, it would be easy (although we should have been doing it when we lived further apart) Anyway, thinking about it...
Have a good week.

The Week In Review

Since I know you've been in suspense since my last post whether RHS won against rival BHS, (haha) I just wanted to let you know that Rogers Won! Unfortunatly, Rogers lost this Friday to Fort Smith Northside. :( And it was Homecoming!
I went to a cooking class in Wed night with the chef at Copeland's New Orleans Restaurant and it was pretty neat. I'm not much of a cook (my meals usually come out of a box in the freezer) but we learned how to make Shrimp Creole and Bananas Foster. I don't even like bananas, but I could have eaten 5 plates of that stuff!! I tasted more like rum & caramel. Doubt I'll ever make it at home, but you never know...I'd like to congratulate my best friend, Victoria, for getting hitched this week!!!! I'm so happy for them and wish them the best! My Uncle is visiting in a couple weeks from San Fran and I can't wait! We have such a great time when he's here. It'll be my Mom's b-day also, so I'm sure we'll have fun! I took off work so I'll have a 3 day weekend when he's here. Yeah!
Can you even believe it is OCTOBER??? It's too crazy. I have no idea if we're all dressing up this year for Halloween (my FAV holiday!) because all of our friends either have newborns or will have in a few weeks. Or are very pregnant. (not exactly the partying type) Not that we're big partiers, but we love to get into costumes! So I don't know if I need to be looking for a costume or not. ugg. Maybe I'll see if my sister wants to go look at the Costume store today. that's sounds fun. byebye

Go Mounties!

Ok--so I'm sitting here wondering what to do. This doesn't happen too often! Wayne is at the BHS vs. RHS game (Go Mounties!!) http://www.rogers.k12.ar.us/sports/football/ I didn't want to go and sit on the Tigers' side and hear all the bs from the B-ville fans, so I opted to stay home. Isn't it amazing that you can be out of high school for 10 years and still have such a deep rivalry? Speaking of High School...Here's some pics from my 10 year reunion this summer. (Me, Marissa, Ashley, Elaine, Jennifer, & Mandy) It was pretty fun. I love how we all have on our name tags as if we don't know who each other is. Come on, it's only been 10 years, not 25!
I can't decide whether to scrap, blog, e-mail, call Tori or Mom or Ang, watch tv, watch a movie, read a magazine or what!!! I hate when I'm in no mood at all! (like I said before--this never happens!) Thank God it's Friday and I don't have to work this weekend and it was payday-woo hoo! I also got all of the Southern Living at Home stuff in yesterday so I'm diggin' that. Well, guess I've blogged now, so off I go to figure out something else to do..... :)

Chillin' with the Fam
Tonight was great--I went over to my sister's (Angela) to buy their Razorback tickets from them and we looked at the kids' scrapbooks. Then we drove a whole 5 minutes over to Mom & Dad's to get my grandma's birthday gifts wrapped and ready to go. My parents are going to Fort Smith this weekend for her b-day. Anyway, we talked and laughed and it was so nice--just what I needed. I had a headache when I went over there and it was gone when I left. And when I got ready to leave I realized that it was 11:00! Time flies when you're having fun!

Rained Out
Well, we got ready to go up to the stadium to get tickets for the Razorback game and it started pouring rain and thundering and what not, so we decided to just go out to eat. The thing that sux is that the game is NOT on tv :( I hate listening to games--I'm a visual person.
We decided to go to O'Charley's for lunch and we regretted it. again. Last time we went we got our dinner free because we waited 4ever. But I had the best Pina Colada ever, so I was tempted to give it another try. mistake. The 20 year old annoying waitress who thought she was a comedian was not what we had in mind. She carded both of us and said, "Sorry guys, you look under 30." Wayne's response was, "yeah, just short 5 months from being 30." To which she replied "whatever!" Can you believe that?? I guess she found out when she looked at his ID. Like she would know. Anyway, she was a terrible waitress regardless of her rude remark. Needless to say, she got a small tip: "Never play leap frog with a unicorn."
Well, the hogs play in 30 minutes. My sister & bro-in-law are at the game....getting wet.

Hostess with the Mostess

Well, I successfully held my Southern Living at Home party at my house this week. (LOVE their stuff!) It turned out great! It was a lot of work (cleaning every inch of my house and preparing food, etc) but it was so worth it. I think all my friends had a good time. I had 11 friends over! I got $260 worth of stuff FREE and I got 5 1/2 price items. Not too shabby. I'll get everyone's stuff in about 2 weeks and then I can pass it out.
The consultant is trying to talk me into being a consultant. I've been feeling so overwhelmed lately I just can't take on anything else right now. I would like to do it --but I can't. Maybe in the future.
This picture is totally unrelated to my post--I'm just so proud of the fact I figured out how to post a pic!! I'm not exactly great with computer stuff like that! I took this pic in our back yard this summer--almost all the flowers are dead now--I can't believe it's September! I LOVE fall, but the end of Summer is always kinda sad.
Tomorrow is the first Razorback football game!!! it really IS Fall! We might go, but I'm sooo not looking forward to standing around and trying to buy tickets. It would be so much fun though! GO HOGS!
gotta go to bed--I have to work in the morning --on Labor day weekend (ugg)

Heavy Heart
I cannot beleive the devistation from Hurricane Katrina. It's unbelievable. I sat tonight and watched footage and thought, 'here I am sitting in my house watching my big screen tv eating food and drinking coke and it could all be taken away in the blink of an eye.' Those victims have been sitting outside with nothing but the clothes on thier backs and although our government has very little to help them, they are constantly on tv talking about how much they've done. I know it has to be hard to get supplies there, but come on--they've been there for almost a week!! And Pres. Bush did a "fly over" in the his helicopter--oooooh, that'll give you a great connection with the Americans that are suffering. It's ridiculous.

Long Time No Blog
Man, I've really been slacking on the ol' Blog. I've been so busy lately I just haven't made time. With what, you ask? In a nutshell: Junior League, Bunco group, still unpacking and painting in our new house, work (ugg), getting Employee of the Month at work, Being the Employee Activities Committeee Chairperson at work...must I go on?
I really need to work on NOT complaining about the things I've gotten myself into. I complain a lot and no one likes a complainer. I'm glad to be a part of things--it pushes me to learn and get out of my sheltered little box, but then I get stressed out. I have too much going on in my mind. But I have learned and grown more in the last year than I have in a long time.
Lesson learned. Don't Bitch.

Happy 4th of July!
We had a BBQ tonight at our house. It was our first "dinner party" hosted at our new house! Everything went really well and we had fun. We had:
hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, mixed green salad with walnuts & dried cranberries (yum), potato salad, watermelon, and peanut butter fudge ice cream sandwich dessert. After dinner, we all went to our friend's land to watch them shoot off fireworks. Tomorrow everyone's coming back over to eat leftovers and then we'll go watch the big fireworks show. I love Summertime and July 4th!

ok-I changed my blog name
I changed the name of my blog from "scrap_fairy's blog" to "scraptacular" for obvious reasons...
1. the first title was extremely unoriginal (i named it really fast before I went to bed, so i put zero thought into it)
2. I think "scraptacular" is pretty much going to sum up the unimportant things I say on here.
(drop the "s" and that's what you're gonna get on this blog) and I will mostly be disscussing (with myself) scrapbooking.
Well, gotta go eat steak...
