Rainy Naturals Game

My uncle is visiting from CA and we've been having a good time. Lots of eating has occurred! Unfortunately, I haven't gotten many pictures during his visit.

Yesterday we went to the AR Naturals baseball game. It was Mason's nap time, but I took him anyway because Wayne was in Fayetteville tailgating for the 1st Razorback football game and I thought he'd have fun anyway. We hadn't been there long, when the sky turned black & it started raining! We grabbed all of our stuff and headed to shelter, along with the rest of the crowd. We then waited for the rain to let up for what seemed like an eternity, huddled with thousands of others. It was POURING and the wind was blowing. Mason had no patience left and I was at the end of my rope! It finally let up enough for us to run out to our cars--needless to say I had a curly afro by this point. Mason was asleep before we even got on the bypass and then slept 2 more hours once we got home! I took a little nap myself (an earned one for sure!) Maybe we'll try to go to a game another time...

Big Announcement...

Guess who has a new job?
Me! I feel it's safe to tell the masses at this point--everyone who needs to know or should know, knows!

Many of you know that I've been unhappy at my job for a while now and have been casually looking for something different. Well, in a nutshell, circumstances got worse at the ol' workplace and it lit a fire under my a*s to actually get out of there. Talk about answered prayers! Anyway, I'm rambling--I will now be working at Creekside Clinic for Women and Laser Aesthetics. Ok, so it's just up the driveway from the old job, but I'm so excited to:
A. Wear REAL clothes, not scrubs. (Thus the reason for the weekend shopping trip!)
B. Work in a laid-back environment (I was assured they have lots of fun there while getting the job done)
C. Have a great schedule & pay.

I'm so excited for the change-this week is my last at WCWH. I'm sure I'll be sad as I leave on Thursday after 5 1/2 years there, but it is a much-welcomed change! I'll be working in the business office under a former WC co-worker and there are many other people there that I know that used to work at WC as well. Not to mention, I already know all the Dr's. So I will hopefully fit in and be comfortable there.

Shopping Weekend

I realize that this is my 7th post today. I'm not obessed--Just getting you (& me)caught up on my life!
So this weekend, I pretty much shopped and shopped and shopped some more! I needed some new clothes and lots of groceries. I ended up getting some cute stuff at bargain prices at Kohl's & T.J. Maxx. I ended up with 8 shirts, a pair of dress slacks, a bra (thank goodness-finally!), and a cute pair of shoes!




Oh--and Wal-Mart has started getting in their Christmas toys and they are now carrying Wonderpets and Little Einsteins as well as new, cuter Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and a few new Backyardigans toys. I was very excited!
And so was Mason.
;)

What should Mason be for Halloween?

This question has already been running through my head! I ADORE Halloween, so I've already started thinking. I broke out the Pablo costume (from Backyardigans) that he wore last year and Mason wanted to wear it. It was waaayyyy too small of course. I plan on getting it ready, along with the monkey he wore his first Halloween, and selling them on eBay. IF I can get over the sentimentality of them, that is!

Mason helped Wayne wash his truck last weekend. It was a fun new experience for them both! Wayne also handwashed my car and it looked great! Now I just need to have Mason vacuum out the inside. (joke!)

Cameron's 11th Birthday

My nephew, Cameron, celebrated his 11th birthday last Wednesday! He is such a great kid and of course Mason loves playing with him. His party was last weekend and I'm just getting caught up...
It was a football themed party since he is getting ready to start playing football. He's very athletic and has played soccer & basketball and just finished a great season of baseball where he was chosen for the All-Star team. So on to football!

Obsess Much? Part II

Since the first post, Mason has discovered Daddy's shop-vac. Now he likes to play with it in the garage after riding his trike.
He has also really used the big vacuum at Mimi & Grandpa's house as well as our house. He comes & tells me the floor is dirty & that he "needs" to use the big "broom-broom." He actually started calling it "vacuum cleaner" a few days ago instead of broom-broom. We let him vacuum a small area & then turn it off, much to his dismay...

Embroidery

I'm catching up on posting pictures today and thought I'd pass this along...
My mom made this cute pillow for our front porch bench. For those of you who don't know, she has a small embroidery business called "Seams Sew Simple" (would be bigger if she didn't work full time as well) and she can embroider many things. The pillow she made is with outdoor fade-resistant, water-resistant fabric, but could of course be made with any fabric. Anyway, if you need something embroidered, just let me know & she'd be happy to work with you!

Mason absolutely LOVES to ride his trike on the driveway. Many days, when we get home, I'll rush him quickly by it to get inside so that I won't be stuck outside sweating for the next hour while he casually rides around. I know--I sound mean, but really I'm not! Most days when I get home from work, poor Wayne is outside supervising a trike ride. Mason refuses to pedal, but scoots along really fast. (I got him to put his feet up on the pedals only for the picture!)

I jumped the bait from Christy to try this.
Go to Google and type in "______(your name) needs" and see what it brings up. Christy's were hilarious! Mine, not so much. Can I just say that there are other Lindsay's in the world BESIDES Lohan!? So here's what "Lindsay needs..." from just the first 2 pages:

It was as if there was a committee of blog gurus out there searching the blogosphere every second of every day for the most stand-out, wonderfully beautiful, thought-provoking, timely, inspiring works of such bloggers just to present them with a 2x2 square that says they did good.
Now I realize they are handed out like candy.
All kidding aside--I'm so happy to have inspired a few of my friends to blog. I love to hear about the fabric that makes up their daily lives and see pictures of their families. My Mom's 30th Anniversary at Wal-Mart

That's not a typo--my Mom has worked for Wal-Mart for 30 years! She started when I was one! This morning we went to a big celebration in her honor at her work. There was an entertaining slide show, balloons, a full breakfast, cake, and lots of people there to congratulate her and thank her. Lee Scott even showed up to see her. (She started right before him and was his assistant at one time.) She was very appreciative of the whole celebration. Congrats, Mom!

Obsess Much?

Mason loves vacuums. period. He always wants to play with the "Big Broom-Broom" (and has gotten to on many occasions) He's had a play one but it became too babyish so we finally got him this real-looking Dirt Devil that turns on & sounds like a vacuum and really picks up (a tiny bit.) He loves it. In the first 6 hours he owned it, he played with it for 5 1/2. He wanted to sleep with it. I guess the little man likes a clean floor.

I realize you're probably getting sick of seeing Mason play in the water, however these were too cute not to share! He started sticking his tongue out to drink the water--it's hilarious to watch!
And he will smile for the camera now if you ask him to show his teeth! (Which makes Mommy very happy!)

Our Trip to Kansas City for Our 9th Anniversary

We had a great time in Kansas City! We got home yesterday afternoon after 3 days & 2 nights. We really missed Mason a lot, but he did great staying at my parent's house.

We took 222 pictures and you know I always have trouble parring them down! I tried my best to show just the highlights, but this is still one of my longest posts ever!!

DAY ONE
We got into town after a quick 3 hour drive, checked into our hotel and walked down to the Plaza for lunch at the M&S Grill. We had reserved a tour at the Boulevard Brewery for that afternoon (as far as beer goes, Wayne only drinks Boulevard Wheat anymore) so we drove straight there after lunch. It was neat to see all the equipment it takes to make beer. (spoken like a woman) There was a tasting at the end of the tour and although I'm not a beer drinker, I tried a small glass of the Summer Ale.
After the tour, we stumbled upon the National World War I Liberty Memorial but they were closing, so we got some pictures outside and vowed to return the next day.

DAY TWO

After breakfast, we headed straight to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. I had been there before, but it was about 10 years ago. It was one of the big highlights of the trip for me! (imagine that) We got to see pieces by Monet, Van Gogh, Rodin, Gauguin, Rembrandt, Kandinsky, Caravaggio, Seurat,and Warhol, just to name a few. I was in Heaven! We then ate lunch at Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ (rated #1, and rightly so!) and then went back to the WWI memorial. We went up in the tower (don't know how many stories, but it was very tall! Picture is above) and got a great view of the city from atop it. We had dinner at Houston's then walked around the Plaza and went on a gondola ride on the river (another highlight of the trip!)

DAY THREE
We walked across the street from our hotel to the Kemper Museum of Contempoary Art. We came to realize that we aren't big fans of contemporary art, but found some neat things as well.

If you're still with me at this point, congrats! You made it! The longest post in history is over!!
As you can see, we really had a great time! We found ourselves saying over and over that if we ever HAD to move, that we would actually enjoy living in Kansas City! I have never said that before about anywhere! It was a beautiful city, filled with art, fountains, sculptures, and things to do. I can see us visiting again in the future...
