In February, we got 2 feet of snow! That's unheard of for our area. We usually get snow every Winter, but nothing like this. Everyone (including the local news stations) was calling it "Snowmageddon" or "Snowpocalyps." Needless to say, we had many, many snow days stuck at home. It wasn't that bad though, because we got to hang out watching movies and drinking hot chocolate, Wayne enjoyed pulling a few people out of the snow who were stuck, and of course Mason loved playing in the snow until he was a popsicle!
That's our BBQ grill under there This is after Wayne swept the snow off the porch with a push broom--it was so powdery!
I loved these little bird prints on the front porch

Snow Day~Jan 2011
This was the first snow of the year, in January. Mason loved it.
I love the snowflake on his eyelashes...
I didn't actually take Maddie out in the snow (it was freezing!) but I bundled her up in her car seat & we watched Mason play in the snow from the sunroom.
I just adore this little hat on her! I bought it thinking it would be too big, but it fit just right.
When Wayne got home, he assisted Mason in retrieving this huge icicle off the house!
Then it became a unicorn horn...
...and a sword.
This snow was fun, but little did we know 2 weeks later we'd be stuck in almost 2 feet of snow!!

Spring Snow
What's wrong with this picture? GREEN grass with SNOW!?!!
Since Mother Nature blessed us with one last snow, (on the first day of Spring, might I add) I felt compelled to let Mason play in it one last time. Well, I guess I should have let him play in it over the weekend, but it just didn't happen until this afternoon when most of it had melted. The backyard was a sloppy, muddy mess with slushy snow on top. Of course Mason still had a great time while I cringed as he jumped up & down in the mud puddles, trying to remind myself that it's just mud and he is a boy. Eeeewwwwww

Backyard Snow Play
We've had so much snow over the last 2 months~and personally, I'm pretty sick of it! I am glad that Mason has gotten to play in it and have a good time though. These pictures were from a few weeks ago~the snow is melted now but It's bitter cold outside and was spitting snow again today! I could never live up north!

Mason's First Sledding Adventure
We took Mason to a hill near my parent's neighborhood to sled. He wasn't too into it since he didn't have enough weight to get the sled going very fast. Wayne worked hard getting Mason up & down the hill in the deep snow...while I stood & took pictures! Mason was so cute when we told him to lean back, he would lean as far back as he could, even if he wasn't moving yet.

Early January Snow Days
The first full week in January, we had several snow days with all local schools closed. (Much like today!) Mason was so excited to get outside and play and build a snowman.
Our little angel making a snow angel Wayne got a workout pulling Mason in the sled
Snowball fight
The next day, we played outside again...

We tried to build a snowman, but the snow was too dry and it turned out to be a snowblob.
The next night I got home from work to find that Mason & Daddy had made a real snowman in the front yard!

What we did this weekend...
On Friday, Mason & I rode around town doing errands with my Mom. I had a terrible banging headache most of the day, so that really sucked. We stopped in at the Promenade Food Court so that Mason could ride the New Orleans Carousel! I hadn't heard anything about it (because I live under a rock) but my Mom told me that it was saved from Hurricane Katrina and refurbished. I wonder how it came to live here...? I'll have to google it & get back to you! Anyway, It was the highlight of the day! It was really beautiful and the antique cash register they used was amazing as well. They had it recovered in copper, brass, and nickel and it has more buttons than you can imagine. If you're at the Promenade, go check out the cash register and of course the Carousel!
I was surprised to pull back the curtain on Sat morning to find this:
So we just spent the weekend at home. Not that the weather would've kept us from doing anything if we had wanted to, we were just kinda lazy and too cold.
Mason played with his road mat and we watched the movies Cars & Finding Nemo about 3 times each! We just joined the Disney Movie Club and got 4 movies for $1! He is loving them! (and so am I)
