Snow Day, Part 2

Today was MASON'S FIRST SNOW!! Well, that he got to experience. It snowed some last year but he was just a baby. When Wayne got home from work, we bundled up and headed to the backyard. Mason was in awe as he stepped into the snow and was smiling from ear to ear. He stomped all over the yard, made and threw some snowballs, and helped daddy make a little snowman. I took sooooo many pictures! Then we went inside and had hot chocolate (Mason had warm milk) to get warmed up!

Snow Day!

What a great day! I didn't have to go to work (after getting up, getting dressed and putting my makeup on!), I cleaned out a small part of my hall closet (while Mason "helped"), took some snowy pictures out my back door, played with Mason and watched the Backyardigans, surfed some scrapbooking/art/craft blogs while Mason took a nap, and munched on soup and pretzels. I love snow days when I can just stay at home! (Too bad Wayne had to go to work!)

I felt bad that our birdfeeder was empty, so I threw several cupfuls of birdseed outside and it was soon a feeding frenzy.

Mason's 2nd Haircut

We FINALLY got Mason's hair cut yesterday afternoon. I think it turned out really cute. He looks so much different now though. He did good--turned his head a lot until they started blowing bubbles for him.

Mason loves books and lately he's been getting them off his shelf, crawling up into the rocking chair and "reading" them. Too cute!

No Foo Fighters Tonight :(

Well our evening out has gone down the drain....the Foo Fighters are sick and must reschedule. I totally understand though and Dave (we're on a first name basis) wrote a very nice little letter on their website explaining. (posted below)
I think we may still go out to eat for dinner, since we have a babysitter (my mom) and we were all geared up for a fun night out.

Hey everybody.....

Laying here in my Nashville hotel room, sick as a dog, but I had to write you all something, because anyone who knows this band knows we RARELY ever cancel gigs. Someone's gotta be pretty thrashed in order for that to happen.

Well........yours truly is down for the count. Big time. The last thing in the world I want to do is jump up on stage and give you guys some half-ass version of what a Foo's show is all about. That's just not fair. And, it would break my heart. Unfortunately, in my current (crappy flu) condition, you wouldn't be getting the show you guys deserve. And, that's the most important thing to me.

You have my word that we'll make it up to you. We always keep those promises. I'm so sorry for any inconvenience. Knowing that you guys will be bummed makes me feel even shittier, believe me.

My Daily Chrysalis

As if I need to spend even more time on the computer, I've created a second blog (thanks to Christy for her inspiration!) to filter my creative outlets. It will definitely be a work in progress that I want to use as a catchall of self improvement. If nothing else, it will be a place for me to organize my thoughts and things that inspire me to grow in scrapbooking, painting, photography, writing, spirituality, and much more.

My Little (Acoustic) Rockstar

Mason loves Wayne's guitar and wants to play with it but knows it's a no-no. He calls it "dada." I guess that's because I say "no, that's dada's." He now calls anything that remotely looks like a guitar "dada". Whenever he sees a violin, cello, bass, sitar, banjo...well you get the picture...they are all "dada". So, I went on a quest to find him a play guitar and ended up with (I'll admit) one that's a little too nice for a toddler to bang around. It was pretty cheap though and he loves it. These pics were taken right after we surprised him with it. What a rockstar.

Crystal Bridges Art Museum

I'm getting so excited about Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art opening in Bentonville--in 2010! A few weeks ago, after a Junior League meeting which was held at Crystal Bridges at the Massey, I got the opportunity to hear more about the museum from our instructor that night, which just happened to be Sandy Edwards, Associate Director for the museum.

We got to see the architect's scale model of the grounds and it will be incredible! (pictured below) The entire campus is being built to look like it has been nestled amongst the natural surroundings forever. All of the parking will be in an underground garage as not to disturb the surrounding beauty. Sandy told us that the permanent collection (which means 3 to 5 years) will consist of 100 to 200 pieces! They are still gathering, but have many lined up to be in the collection. This doesn't even include the traveling exhibitions! I'm just so excited (can you tell?!) to have something of this magnitude in our backyard!

The growing permanent collection is composed of paintings and sculptures from the Colonial period through the modern era. The museum has announced several major works, most of which are currently on loan to other institutions.

Cadence's 1st Birthday

Our friend Tara's daughter, Cadey, just turned One! We went to her birthday party today and had fun seeing all our friends. Mason got to play with other kids, which is something he doesn't get to do too often. He refused to eat any cake or ice cream--I guess because he was really off his normal schedule today and ate a late lunch. He loved the goodie bag Tara gave him at the end of the party and even got to take home a balloon. He giggled all the way home with that balloon. Unfortunetly, it popped soon after we got home, but he was okay with that! Happy Birthday, Cadey and thanks for the great party!

Small Strides

I'm getting a few scrapbook pages done here and there. I finally broke down and made a "to-do" layout list--that's how far behind I am! I'm enjoying using some new supplies that I got for Christmas--an added incentive. I'm ready to get caught up--maybe if I'd get off this computer I'd get something done!!! :)

January Family Night

We had a busy weekend--
Last night was our monthly "Family Night." This month was held at my Grandma's house (we rotate) and we had a great dinner and dessert. Mason of course had fun playing with Chloe' and Cameron. And we all had fun playing with all the treasures you can find at a grandma's house--old stuff that's neat again! These pics aren't very good, but it's documented nonetheless...

I'm so excited! Last night we bought tickets to see the Foo Fighters in Fayetteville! (say that 3 times fast!) Just a little treat for ourselves. I will definitely be posting pics after the concert on the 28th...
