"Not Me" Monday

I've been reading posts from other people's "Not Me!" Mondays and I've wanted to give it a try. They are usually pretty funny, but maybe that's because it's easier to laugh at someone else's expense. Oh well, here it goes...

  • My car did not automatically lock all four doors and set the alarm completely by itself while I was buckling Mason in his carseat last night when leaving my parent's house. I did not think I heard something that sounded like my car doors locking but went about my business and closed the car door (not me), only to find out that all the doors were locked and Mason was inside. I did not have to call Wayne to drive over and unlock my car. I was not freezing my butt off standing outside waiting for Wayne while talking to Mason, who was not locked in the car all by himself. Wayne was not aggrevated at all by having to drive over to unlock my car.

  • Mason did not say "Mommy's a witch" when looking at this picture of me. I did not explain to him that although the hat was pointy, it was for New Year's Eve.

  • I did not just get my Christmas tree and decorations taken down on Saturday. They are not still piled up in the kitchen waiting to be shoved back up into the attic. That would not drive me crazy.

  • I did not set out to buy new clothes with some Christmas money this weekend and leave the store only with two purses and a pair of sunglasses. No, not me!

New Year's Eve

I worked a half day & Wayne worked a whole day on the 31st. That evening, I dropped Mason off at my parents to spend the night so we could go to our friends Casey & Kim's house for their annual New Year's Eve party. It was a lot of fun~I had more fun this year for some reason. Everyone seemed so laid back & we laughed our butts off (with the aid of alcoholic beverages, of course) and it was nice to see our friends for a change.

Wayne & Casey

Last year we started a new tradition-each person brings their worst Christmas present for a dirty santa gift exchange. It was so funny to see all the weird stuff like one of those HUGE remote controls, some nasty grandma-smelling floral lotion, a other things...

Stuart & Melissa

I debated whether or not I should post this, but I thought, what-the-heck--it's too funny not to share!!! This is a gift I opened & it was stolen away from me! hilarious.

At midnight, the neighbors really appreciated the fireworks we set off outside...

Melissa & Moi (we each took these pics for our blogs! silly bloggers...)

Me & Wayne

We got to bed at 2:45am (holy moly) and I did not wake up until 9:30! I had planned to go over to my parents to relieve them of Mason-duty before then. Anyway, I got up & got ready pretty quickly & headed over for my Mom's annual New Year's Day lunch. Wayne kept his sleepy butt in bed and did not attend the festivities. I'll post about the lunch later~I really need to get to bed now. I seem to be on a crazy later-than-usual-night schedule. Mason is too. Maybe we'll get back on track.
Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Wishing you a FUN & SAFE New Year's Eve and a prosperous 2009!
See you next year!

Christmas with Wayne's Family

Ok, this is the 5th and final installment of Christmas, I promise.

On Saturday, we went to Wayne's parent's house and ate a big dinner, unwrapped gifts, and got to see lots of family. Mason had lots of fun playing with his cousins, as usual. I kept trying to get him to sit & pose with them so I'd have a cute picture of all the kids, but it just didn't work out. (with a 2 year old, why not?) Here are some of those attempts. Might I add it was Mason's nap time.

Me: Mason, go sit in front of the tree with Wyatt.

Mason: No. (while running)

Wyatt (4 years old): Take my picture! Cheeeesssse!

Me: Mason, go sit with Lexi & Haley & Kolton.

Wyatt: Look at me! Take my picture! Cheeesse!

I finally settled for this:

Unwrapping presents...

We had a wonderful Christmas! Thanks to everyone for all the gifts, food, and family fun!

Black Friday

Mason & I casually hit a few stores on the Friday after Christmas with Mom & Angela. We went to Hobby Lobby & the Promenade. The weather was absolutely beautiful! The high was 70 (can you say global warming?!) but it was very windy. Nevertheless, it was nice to shop at the Promenade without freezing our butts off!

In the car watching a "me-oo-vie" (as he says)

And some random acts of cuteness...

Christmas Night

Like I said in the previous post, I got out of my pj's at 4 pm (!) to get ready to go eat a big, super yummy turkey dinner at my parent's house. We had already unwrapped our gifts, so it was relaxing just stuffing our selves silly. I didn't get too many pics that night. Must have been the triptiphan. (however you spell that!)

Mason eating a Christmas cookie after dinner

My Grandma & Wayne

Angela & Cameron

Last year, Ang & I passed over the tradition of breaking the wishbone to Chloe' & Cam. We were like, why are we still doing this?

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning was just great! Mason woke us up around 7:30 and we went out to find that Santa had left him a shopping cart filled with "food", a cash register, lots of cool cars, and a stocking full of goodies. He also had a lot of toys from Mommy & Daddy waiting for him under the tree.

First sight of the goods

Playing with the Fisher Price cash register-just like the one I had as a small child.

Yes!

Unwrapping

A set of Spongebob beanies (warning: mommy without makeup ahhhhh)

unloading the stocking

I got Wayne this silly 4-in-1 hood thing for when he's doing yard work outside in the cold. (he will not be seen like this in public!) We laughed so hard when he tried it on. He looks like a monk/ewok/medieval knight!

After we all unwrapped our gifts, We had coffee (well, Mason had milk) and cinnamon rolls.

Mason played with his toys all day and we relaxed and watched part of A Christmas Story (my fave xmas movie)and Wayne & I ended up watching Batman (the original one with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson as Joker) just because it came on tv & we got sucked in. I stayed in my pajamas until 4 pm!!! Then we got ready to go to my parent's for turkey dinner. (next post!)

Christmas Eve 2008

Christmas Eve is our family's big night. We used to have Christmas Eve at my parent's house and Christmas Day at my Grandma's, but since my grandma has gotten older and doesn't have the endurance needed to make a huge dinner & play hostess, my parents have taken over both occasions. Either way I love it!

My Mom makes a big lasagna dinner on Christmas Eve (because it's good & it's something totally different from the traditional turkey dinner, which we have on Christmas Day) After dinner we unwrap gifts & then usually go to the candlelight service at church (oops-we missed it this year!)

Mason wanted a lot of help opening his presents at first. He's not a rip-into-it kinda kid. He just kept saying, "What is it? What is it?"

Speaking of...what is it? Can you tell? LOL. This is a hammer that my parents got for Wayne, but my sister wrapped! It was pretty funny. It looks like a hatchet in the picture.

One of Mason's favorite gifts, a Spongebob umbrella. He's pretty smitten with it in this pic...

Getting the hang of it

My Dad, Wayne & Me with my new Razorback chip & dip server from my Grandma Betty Ruth. Love it!

Chloe' with (one of many of) her prized possesions, a DVD set of Mickey Rooney & Judy Garland

Mason's other fave gift, a Walmart shopping cart

Cameron & Chloe'

And we were sure to put out cookies & milk for Santa when we got home

Meet "Patches"

Again, pics from last Friday when me, my mom, & Mason went to see Santa. After visiting with Santa & riding the rides, we ate lunch then started shopping. It wasn't long before we found ourselves in Build-a-Bear Workshop. Mom wanted to treat Mason to his first Build-a-Bear as a Christmas gift. It was fun! Mason picked out a cute puppy dog:

Pushing the foot pedal to stuff his dog

Putting the little satin heart inside

"washing" & grooming station

Picking out clothing & accessories
