A Splashing Good Time

This is my 5th post tonight(!)so be sure to scroll down & check out the previous new posts...

I'm almost embarrassed to say that before yesterday, Mason had never been to a swimming pool. Me, of all people, former swim team member, 3 year Lifeguard, teacher of private swimming lessons, had never taken the poor child to the pool before. So now that the guilt is over with, here's some pictures of what a great time we had!

Before getting in the water, he had to try out the cool chairs

I took him in the 3-4 Ft water first & bobbed him around to get him more comfortable. He jumped into my arms twice from the side of the pool (he wasn't afraid) and then we spent the rest of the time over in the kiddie pool, which is just 1 FT deep. He "swam" all around that little pool. He didn't stay by me very much but of course I sat at the edge & kept my eye on him at all times. Mommy may have gotten a sunburn~but at least I kept Mason greased up like a little piggy with sunscreen! (I put it on myself too, just not enough or not in the right places!)

I love this pic of my pasty white boy!

My new fave pic! What a cool dude.

Summertime!

Mason's favorite thing to do (besides play with cars) is to play outside. He loves to swing, run around, ride his trike, and of course, play in the sprinkler!
We finally got a new camera a few weeks ago since I was at my wit's end with our old one. We knew we had to break done & get one with Mason's birthday and our Vegas trip coming up. So you won't have to hear any more griping out of me about how most of my pictures are blurry, it takes so long to snap the picture that the action is then over, or that the video option is broken! Now I have good pics AND video back!

Okay...I just tried to upload 2 videos & it's not going for some reason. I'll keep trying...

Our Little Lawn Man

Mason has been busy with yard work lately. He's done a lot of mowing...

(We let him take a break and play with bubbles)

Then a few weekends ago, he planted flowers & plants around our mailbox...

And around the big tree in our front yard
They turned out great & look even better now that they've had a few weeks to fill in. Thanks, Mason!

Busy Day at the End of May

Going to get caught up on posting again!
Here's some pictures of Mason at the playground, riding his trike, eating a hot dog in the backyard, and painting a lovely watercolor...from the last day of May.

A Little Bit of This & A Little Bit of That

I have some random misc. pics to share so I thought I'd lump them all together into one big crazy post!

Mason got to make a new animal at Build A Bear a few weekends ago while we were out shopping with my Mom & Grandma. He chose a bear because he's never had a bear of his very own~the bear that he's always played with was Wayne's teddy bear when he was a child. He chose a soft, chocolate brown bear and we named him Hershey.
Every time we've been in Build A Bear, Mason only wants to play with the strollers that they sell to push around the stuffed animals. He's TOTALLY distracted & can barely focus on making an animal b/c he's GOT to push the stroller. So we finally caved & bought him one so Hershey could ride in it. (They have a blue one for boys) Mason was in heaven. He didn't want to dress his bear, so we chose a little AR Razorback t-shirt to put it in & some sunglasses & called it good.

Foot on the pedal, filling his bear with stuffing

Waiting...

Washing...

Strolling...

I meant to post this a few weeks ago~Our "Pet" bird update:
The baby birds in the nest right next to our sunroom window hatched & flew out of the nest about 2 weeks later! They grew SO fast! Mama Bird & Baby Daddy taught the babies how to fly, hunt for food in the grass, & all the other things birds need to know how to do. It was such a pleasure to watch them grow from eggs to teenagers...

Mason drew his very first Faces!!! Up until now all of his drawings were just (beautiful) scribbles. we were playing the other day & he just decided he was going to make a face. He drew eyes, a nose, cheeks, a mouth...and then a moustache! hilariously awesome. I am SOOoooo proud! (can you tell?)

If you know us or have read any of this blog in the past, you probably know Mason's fascination/obsession with vacuums. Well, you may not know that he is also in love with robots.
Enter: Robot Vacuum. Not many things in this world make this child happier than our Roomba vacuum. My parents have one too, so he gets to play with one constantly. He knows how to turn it on & off, do a spot clean, & return it to the charger. He follows it around with HIS little "robot vacuum" (that unbeknownst to him is actually an old portable CD player. Ha!) What a cute, clean kid!

Mason also still likes to line random things up in an orderly manner like, say, these pillows...

That's all for now but I'm still playing catch-up. I'll post pictures from Touch A Truck & then celebrate my 400th post (holy geez!)

The Busy Life of a Toddler

Mason has been a busy little man latley. He is funnier than ever, and amazes us everyday. He's also been pee-peeing in the big potty more frequently (!) and wears pull-ups. We still have work ahead of us, but we're well on our way with potty training.
This week Mason has been quite a grouch. I think the rainy weather for over a week has taken it's toll on everyone. Or maybe it's just the terrible two's. Don't get me wrong~most of the time he's a sweetie, but the last few days he's been a real stinker!

Here are some random pictures taken over the last few weeks:

Eating lunch at McDonald's

Painting a picture to give Cousin Chloe' for her birthday (and no, those khaki pants did NOT come out unscathed.)

Little sweeper boy. He likes a broom almost as much as a vacuum. But not quite.
Sweeping is always more fun while wearing Mommy's flip-flops.

Princess or...?

(random cute picture~not related to the story!)

This morning Mason greeted me as I sat up in bed by handing me my pants and saying, "Here you go, Princess."
I have never even heard him say the word Princess before, but I did enjoy being called that!

Then in the car on the way to drop him off at my parents, he was playing with his sunglasses~
Mason: "I'm a Spaceman! What can you be, Mommy?"
Me: "I thought I was a Princess..."
Mason "Nope, you're a Pig Farmer."

Again, I have noooo clue where that came from but it sure was funny! I think I'd rather be a Princess!

What's Going On...

Here's a hodge-podge of what's been going on in our lives over the last week:

Since his first ride on "Chilo" on the carousel at the Promenade, Mason is now a seasoned pro! He's been on "Cherokee Blue" whom Mason called "Ketchup" (he was ketchup colored!)

and "Elvis" (Mommy rode with him this time & got a little green-I'm not a big fan of going round-and-round!) And yes, Mason needs a haircut.

He still loves to play with Playdoh. Here he is with a few creations that Wayne & I helped him make~

Mason has really been into building "towers" with his Mega Blocks. This is his "Tah Dah" look:

I got my hair cut on Friday~Here's BEFORE:

and AFTER:

When my mom, Mason & I were out & about on Friday afternoon, we stopped by Village on the Creeks to see if the flowers were in bloom yet down by the water. They weren't, but some lovely daffodils lined the area around the parking lot, so we stopped for an impromptu photo session (thus Mason's non-picture worthy outfit) I LOVE how they turned out! He just sat right down & posed.

The Chapel on the Creeks was open and I've always wanted to see the inside(I'm dying to go to a wedding there!) It was gorgeous to say the least. There is an amazing painting of the Last Supper in the Groom's Quarters! Anyway-back to the story~no photography was allowed inside the Chapel, but we walked around the side and found this beautiful 2-sided bench.

On Saturday, Wayne mowed for the first time this season, raked up leaves & sweet gum balls from our trees (ugg) and edged. Mason had to mow as well. Yesterday we purchased a new Bubble Mower at Wal-mart to replace the cheap-o $4 mower he's been using. He's been playing with it non-stop in the house (with out the bubbles of course!) and can't wait until it's warm enough to get back outside.

That's all for now!
